Introduction

LockBoxDB is a tool for Real Estate agents, landlords, and property managers. It is used to track your inventory of locks/lock boxes, their location, and the various codes (shackle, key drawer, combination, etc.) that are associated with the lock. It even provides a capability to set a reminder in your To Do List to add/remove a lock from a property.

You can create, read, update, and delete lock records from the Edit screen. Display a summary of lock information with the View All screen. Tap and individual record on the View All screen to view/edit that record.

You can also print reports from your PC using the backup copy of your PDA data.

Prerequisites and Requirements

This software product requires a PalmOS® version of 3.5 or better. Please ensure that this requirement is met before attempting to install this software. If you are uncertain which version of the PalmOS® you are using, please refer to your PDA documentation or visit our software support forum.

Installation

If you are unfamiliar with installing files on your PDA you may want to refer to your PDA documentation for detailed instructions. Also, there is a very good article on PalmSource describing "How to Install Applications".

This software is distributed as a single file in WinZip format. WinZip is a utility that compresses multiple files into one file. You must have the WinZip utility installed on your personal computer to open the distribution file. If you do not have WinZip installed you can download it for free from download.com . Additional information is available on our Software Support Forum under General Information and Discussion. To install the software:

Open the distribution (.zip) file using WinZip.
Click on the Install icon on the WinZip tool bar and follow the on-screen instructions.
Run HotSyncâ to install the software on your PDA.
Tap on the Install icon on your PDA to complete the installation.

Registration

LockBoxDB is distributed in a demonstration mode with limited time use. Purchasing the product and then registering it, activates the full product and eliminates the TRIAL MODE indicator screen. Each copy of the product is registered to a single device. After you have purchased your product, you will need to provide us your HotSyncâ ID. If you provided your HotSyncâ ID to the site you purchased the product from, it should be provided to us with your order.

Once your purchase has been verified and we have received your HotSyncâ ID we will generate a registration key, which will be emailed to you along with the HotSyncâ ID you provided us. To register the product, tap the Register button on the Trial Mode screen. The Registration Screen will show your HotSyncâ ID, which must “exactly” match the HotSyncâ ID provided to us. Enter the registration key “exactly” as provided. Successful registration will be confirmed.

Tips and Tricks

LockBoxDB is a simple and intuitive application. Here are a few tips and tricks that you may like to consider.

Owners - To control the filtering of entries, each entry should be assigned an owner. You can modify the owners in your list from the Owners button on the Welcome screen, or by taping the Owner* label on the Edit screen.

Beaming - You can share your individual records in your data base by taping the Beam button on the edit screen. The receiver must also be running LockBoxDB on their device. You may also share your enter data base by taping the Beam button on the Welcome. Again, the recipient must be running LockBoxDB on their device.

Passwords - You can protect the information in your data base by assigning a password. To view your data base, this password must be provided. You can assign a password by taping the Password button on the Welcome screen. Be sure to remember your password. It cannot be reset.

Reports

LockBoxDB allows reports to be printed on your PC using the backup copy of your LockBoxDB database located in your HotSyncâ backup directory. This capability is only available in the full version (not the demo version) of the product. To use the LockBoxDB reporting facility:

Copy the compiled report(s) (LockBoxDBReports.tbc) distributed with this product into the HotSyncâ backup directory on your PC. This directory can vary by operating system and Palm Desktopâ version. The directory is usually call Backup and located under the Palm directory on your hard drive (i.e. C:\Palm\Backup)
Download and install the current version of the TBViewer©. The TBViewer© program is FREE if you are running compiled report (ending in .tbc). Make sure you read the documentation provided with TBViewer©.
Start the TBViewer© program and open the compiled report that you copied into the HotSyncâ backup directory.

Please note that reports are run on the backup of the LockBoxDB database on your PC. Make sure you Hotsync® your PDA before running a report to ensure the backup on your PC has the most current data from your PDA.
