Introduction

Do you have a web site?  Are you a Webmaster that has to keep track of multiple sites and owners?  Are there too many URLs, IP addresses, Server names, etc. to keep track of?  Then WebMC is for you.  WebMC is a Web Master Control System that keeps track of the details associate with each web site.  You can keep track of site information, owner information, ISP information, Registrant information, Server Information, Remote Access Information, Resources, and general notes for multiple sites.

 

Create, read, update, and delete sites from the SITE screen.  Display a summary of all sites from the LIST ALL screen.  Use the GOTO menu to navigate between additional screens with specific site information.  Keep it all in one place.  Never shuffle through the file cabinets again. 

 

Print reports on your PC from the data on your PDA.

Prerequisites and Requirements

This software product requires a PalmOS® version of 3.5 or better.  Please ensure that this requirement is met before attempting to install this software.  If you are uncertain which version of the PalmOS® you are using, please refer to your PDA documentation or visit the general information section of our support forum for additional information.

Installation

If you are unfamiliar with installing files on your PDA you may want to refer to your PDA documentation for detailed instructions.  The PalmSource article on “How To Install Applications” is very informative.

 

Quick Install

 

WebMC comes with a quick install option that automatically moves the required components from the distribution file to the Palmâ Desktop Install Tool.  To use the Quick Install feature perform the following steps:

 

1.      Open the distribution (.zip) file using WinZip.

2.      Click on the Install icon on the WinZip tool bar or double-click on setup.exe in the distribution file.

3.      Upon successful completion of the install Run HotSyncâ to install the software on your PDA.

 

Standard Install

 

This software is distributed as a single file in WinZip format.  WinZip is a utility that compresses multiple files into one file.  You must have the WinZip utility installed on your personal computer to open the distribution file.  If you do not have WinZip installed you can download it for free from Download.Com

 

1.      Open the distribution (.zip) file using WinZip.

2.      Extract all of the files to a directory of your choice on your hard drive

3.      Open the Palmâ Desktop Install Tool.

4.      Using the Add… button (or drag and drop from you hard drive directory) add all of the distributed programs that end with .prc or .pdb into the install tool. 

5.      Run HotSyncâ to install the software on your PDA.

Getting Started

 

To start the WebMC program tap the icon on your application launcher.  The first screen you will be presented with will be the Signon Screen.

 

            Signon Screen:

§         Tap the Signon button to proceed to the main application.  If you have activated password checking you will be prompted for a password.

§         Tap the Password button to alter your password protection settings.  You may turn password protection on/off or you may alter your password.

§         Tap the List All button for a list of all of your sites

§         Tap the Exit button to exit the application

 

Note:  On any screen (except the Signon Screen) you can tap the screen title to activate the menu.  The Go To sub-menu will allow you to quickly navigate between screens.

Reports

The full version of WebMC now allows reports to be printed on your PC using the backup copy of your WebMC database located in your Hotsync® backup directory (Normally C:/Palm/AL/Backup).  This facility is not available in the trial version of WebMC.  To use the WebMC reporting facility:

 

1.      Copy the compiled reports file (WebMCReports.tbc) distributed with this product into the Hotsync® backup directory on your PC.

 

2.      Download and install the current version of the TBReports© program from http://www.sandsusa.com/TBReports/ .  The TBReports© program is FREE if you are running compiled report (ending in .tbc).  Make sure you read the documentation provided with TBReports©.

 

3.      Start the TBReports© program and open WebMCReports.tbc that you copied into the Hotsync® backup directory.  Follow the onscreen prompts to run reports.

 

Please note that reports are run on the backup of the WebMC database on your PC.  Make sure you Hotsync® your PDA before running a report to ensure the backup on your PC has the most current data from your PDA.
