Interview with a Real Estate Agent - Everything Real Estate

Interview with a Real Estate Agent

Selling real estate is a big event in your life, too big to do on your own. That’s why you’ll probably want a real estate agent to help you sell your property. Of course, you don’t just want to pass off your home or land to the first buyer that comes along. You want to make sure you’re getting the best deal possible for your house. That’s why you don’t just want A realtor, or real estate agent; you want the BEST realtor for your particular interests, wants and needs. You want a realtor who knows the real estate industry, but also who understands your particular situation and who has had experience with the type of house you’re trying to sell. You want someone who understands which market to pitch your house to. You want someone you can respect; you want someone you can trust.

But with so many names and photos smiling at you from For-Sale signs flapping in the front yards of houses, and so many pleasant voices leaving soliciting messages on your answering machine at work, how do you know which real estate agent is the best candidate to sell your home? Some people think that finding a real estate agent is as easy as opening up the Yellow Pages, or as simple as knocking on your newest neighbour’s door and asking for the name and number of the man or woman who sold them their home. These are the people who end up with dodgy deals on their homes. You’ve invested time, money and energy into your home; why adopt a take-what-you-can-get attitude now? Selecting a real estate agent should be a complex process. Put potential realtors through the same grueling grilling you’d put potential employees. Let them prove to you that they’re the best person for the job.

Remember, your agent is not just your personal auctioneer. Rather, he or she is more of a shepherd guiding you to the best possible deal for your particular needs.

We can help you find the right agent for you. But first, you need to decide your needs. Once you’ve determined them, we’ll help you ask your agent the following questions:

· How long have you been in business?

· How long have you sold houses in this area?

· How many houses have you sold in the past year?

· What is your commission?

· How would you market my house?

· How are meeting with potential buyers organized? Who will coordinate?

· Who are your references?
