Question: I'm buying a new home and I got a Loan already approved with an institution. Unfortunately, the rate was locked early and is higher than today's market. Answer: Your loan officer should never lock a rate till several day before the actual scheduled closing. If time is not a factor with you than yes you may resubmit you loan to any other bank of your choosing, or your loan officer sees fit.
