As you make your ways down the American south following the Appalachian Mountains, you will undoubtedly come across a memorable place in Alabama's northeast region nestled in the Appalachian foothills along the Coosa River. Incorporated as a city, Southside is situated near the southern banks of the Coosa River in Etowah County, although parts of the community spill into Calhoun County. A thriving community with an estimated population of 7,200 people, Southside has one of the lowest umemployment rates in the entire making it a popular location for many people.

Southside evokes feelings of a friendly small home town with a hospitable and caring community spirit. The big city is never too far though. Southside is 60 miles northeast from Birmignham along the I-59, about 70 miles southeast from Huntsville, and the Pearl of the South, Atlanta, Georgia is 90 miles to the east.
