Anchorage Real Estate Information Anchorage is one of those American cities that is misunderstood. Considering that it is the largest city in Alaska, a state that most Americans have never been to, the number of assumptions placed on Anchorage can be understood.
However, Anchorage is one of America's finest cities and is home to over 260,000 residents. Located in South Central Alasksa, the population of Anchorage makes up almost half of the population of the entire state. Situated on a triangular peninsula, Anchorage borders the scenic and hike-worthy Chugach Mountains.
Surrounded by incredible landscapes, many people assume that Anchorage is the coldest city in America. However, this is not really true. With average daytime summer temperatures generally ranging from 55 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit and average daytime winter temperatures usually being between 5 and 20 degrees, Anchorage is not necessarily the frozen hellscape that many feel that it is.
One of the country's biggest ports, Anchorage is also the home to a thriving oil and tourism industry. An interesting blend of wilderness and cosmopolitan sophistication, Anchorage is easily one of the most unique cities in America. Although it is situated close to active volcanoes and it is the second largest tidal range in the world, Anchorage is also stocked with excellent shopping centers and many bars.
The recipient of the All America City Award in 2002, Anchorage has all of the features that you want in a city.
