Well I’m standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona and such a fine sight to see. It’s a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed Ford, slowing down to take a look at me… Take it Easy. Take it easy!

Those were the immortal lyrics penned by Jackson Browne and Glen Frey and performed by the Hall-of-Fame Rockers, The Eagles in their legendary song, “Take it Easy” that was recorded in 1973. Because of the fame Winslow received because of this song, the city is highlighted by the visually appealing Standin’ On The Corner Park and the Standin’ On The Corner Festival every October. But there is so much to Winslow than Standin’ On the Corner.

Located in north-central Arizona’s Navajo County, the City of Winslow is situated in the Little Colorado River Valley along the I-40 and State Highway 87. The Navajo Nation and the Hopi Reservation borders the outskirts of Winslow. The surrounding stark beauty of the Arizonan desert sets a backdrop that has been captured in Oliver Stone’s monumental film, “Natural Born Killers”.

Home to rich history with peaks and valleys, Winslow was once the largest city in northern Arizona benefiting from its location along historic Route 66. However with the construction of new transcontinental highways, Winslow economy suffered, as more visitors were not exposed to this scenic city. However, since the 1990’s, Winslow has been experiencing an economic revitalization with many developmental projects fueling future prosperity.
