As anyone who lives in southeast Arkansas knows there are not a lot of big cities in the area, The terrain is mostly rugged and undisturbed, which is the way most people in these parts like it. But there is one notable exception. Monticello Arkansas is the one shining beacon of modern urbanism in this otherwise bucolic setting. The city of Monticello bills itself as the education and culture capital of the Arkansas southeast, and if you were to travel there you would not be disappointed. For many of the people who live in this region this is the city they drive to if they are going to have a nice dinner in a restaurant or if they were going to take their daughter shopping after a hard semester at the local university.

If you were thinking about buying a home here in Monticello I would highly suggest it. The city really is quite beautiful and the people here are just fantastic. It is that kind of larger city with a very small town feeling. Most folks here know each other by name and if they don’t, by reputation. Not that this means that the city is full of gossipy people who will fill the air with your business. Rather it means that people are looking out for each other in both good times and bad. A rarity in these times.

Because of Monticello’s status as a cultural capital the real estate market can be a little more expensive here than in other parts of southeast Arkansas. But like most things in life, you get what you pay for.
