Osceola is one of two county seats, with the other, Blytheville, about 16 miles to the north. Osceola is about 50 miles north of Memphis, the distribution capital of the world.

With a rich heritage, Osceola is the birthplace of some prominent people. The millionaire founder of Holiday Inns, Kemmons Wilson, and entertainer Dale Evans, wife of Roy Rogers, was born here.
