When settler Simon Sager arrived in the area that would become Siloam Springs in the 1830s, he knew that this would be the best place for him to set up. It could have been the area’s stunning location in the majestic Ozark Mountains. It could have been the pristine water arising from the multitude of natural springs found along a nearby creek that now commemorates him (Sager Creek). It could have been that he was just plain tired and didn’t want to trek any further. What ever the case may be, Simon Sager made the right choice.

Today, Simon Sager’s historic home is now an attraction on the campus of Siloam Spring’s John Brown University. John Brown University is a premier Christian University in the nation and is home to nearly 2,000 students. The university adds considerable culture and energy to the community, and is a key player in community development.

This historic community was named after Siloam Springs, a biblical reference. But there may have been divine intervention with the discovery of healing properties in the spring waters. This led to the development of a world-class health resort, whose popularity fueled the growth of Siloam Springs. Today, many visitors still make the trip to visit this beautiful area of the country as Siloam Springs has a healthy and growing tourism industry.
