Wynne Real Estate Information Situated just west form the stunning Crowley’s Ridge Parkway, the City of Wynne is everything you could hope for in a place to live and then some.
Wynne is the county seat of Cross County, making it the industrial, business, financial, and administrative hub for the surrounding area. The city is 53 miles east from Memphis, Tennessee; 115 miles southwest from the state capitol of Little Rock; 225 miles southwest from Shreveport, Louisiana; and 295 miles from Jackson, Mississippi.
The city was named after Captain Jesse Watkins Wynne, who performed gallant feats for the Confederate Army during the Civil War. Although there is no historical information linking Captain Wynne to this community, Wynne was established as a railroad junction for the north-south Iron Mountain railway line.
Wynne is served by an excellent elementary, intermediate, junior high, and high school. The high school has helped build a fierce community spirit thanks to the amazing feats of their football team. In 2004, Wynne High School captured the AAAA State Championships – it would be the 4th State Title in the school’s history.
Area attractions in and around Wynne include the scenic Crowley’s Ridge Parkway where you can fully experience Arkansas’s unique landscape. Another popular destination is Village Creek State Park for excellent camping, hiking, and fishing activities.
