La Puente, California

La Puente is located near Los Angeles, on Puente Creek, at the foot of the Puente Hills. La Puente is surrounded by the City of Industry to the west and southwest, the city of West Covina to the north and the communities of Hacienda Heights, Rowland Heights, Valinda, Basset and additional unincorporated pockets of L.A. County.

Once part of La Puente Rancho, the community was laid out in 1841 and was originally the commercial center of a crop-farming and poultry and cattle-raising area. The city's name is Spanish for "the bridge."

Currently the City operates various facilities to serve the community. These include a Community Center, Senior Center, Public Safety Center, and La Puente Park. There are seventeen schools, two libraries, and a health center serving the City's residents.
