Lakewood is a city located in Los Angeles County, California. The city has a population of some 81,000 people.

Lakewood is known as the nation’s first, post-war, planned community. Homes were mass produced in assembly line fashion to accomodate the many veterans who would be returning home or relocating to this prosperous region. Another historical note is that the Lakewood Center, which was conceived of as the West’s first regional shopping mall, was the first to truly accommodate the automobile.

Close to all the major amenities that the Los Angeles Greater Metropolitan area provides, Lakewood is one of the preferred surburban communities for working professionals seeking less of the hustle and bustle of urban centers. Its very close proximity to Long Beach, Rancho Palos Verdes, and Huntington Beach allows for lazing around on the beach at any given time.

With many recreational, cultural, and culinary attractions close by, Lakewood also has one of its own - the Lakewood's Heritage Center at Belmar Park, which recreates life here at the turn of the 20th century.
