Only 14 minutes from downtown L.A. the city of Manhattan Beach could have been excused for relying on its bigger neighbour to provide employment, social amenities and recreational facilities for its citizens. This is not the case. Employment opportunities lie in the professional scientific, management and administration community. The upshot of this professional employment culture is that there are many people with masters degrees and PhD’s, all looking for a greater quality of life, however this quality of life is well catered for by the city.

Downtown beaches offer water sports, fun and relaxation, where as the local parks provide opportunity for family walks in beautiful surroundings. Being enclosed by two harbours allows for boating and other ocean pursuits. Excellent schooling is also a feature of Manhattan Beach and the school system is one of the finest in the state, preparing students for the rigours of further education.

A diversity of property types exist in the real estate market. Prices for single family homes are dependant on location and can be in the mid hundred thousands. For a beach front family home that price can triple.
