San Gabriel, California

San Gabriel is a city dedicated to preserving the culture, ideas and realities of American heritage. When surrounding areas were still frontier lands, the Franciscan Fathers were engaged in founding a Mission; a Mission that would serve as a major catalyst in the growth of Southern California.

This city calls itself "pride of the California Missions," and it supplied later Missions and settlements with such necessities as soap, wax, cloth, hides and food. The Fathers' introduction and acclimation of orange trees and grapevines to this area made them the forerunners of the agricultural industry in Southern California.
