The City of Seaside is a community of 33,450 people on the beautiful Monterey Peninsula, 115 miles south of San Francisco. Our website is designed to provide information about our community, as well as the services available to the City's visitors, residents, and businesses.

Sand Dollar Plaza and Edge Water Shopping Center comprise the only regional retail center on the Monterey Peninsula. They house Costco, Office Depot, Orchard Supply Hardware, Target, Borders Books and many other popular retail outlets along with smaller stores.

Seaside enjoys the sunniest of the moderate year-round Peninsula coastal climates. Summer highs seldom exceed 80° F and winter temperatures rarely drop below 40° F. Annual rainfall averages 18.7 inches with over 95% occurring during the fall and winter months. The average relative humidity is 74% in summer and 66% in winter.
