Canon Colorado is a city with tourism on the brain…if cities had a brain that is. Not too long ago the residents of this small community of no more than 16,000 people realized that they had a real resource that they weren’t getting everything out of. That resource was the tourism industry catering to folks who were looking for some real outdoor adventure.

Before long, the city council and the chamber of comer came together and began marketing Canon Colorado as one of the premier destinations in the United States for fishing, camping, and hiking. As word got out, people flocked there and the avalanche began…no pun intended. Now the city has a year-round culture of adventure that cannot be matched by anyone else in the state.

This influx of tourists has given the downtown and residential areas a much-needed boost as well. There are new homes springing up all over Canon and they are great deals for their size. You can even take a look at some of Canon’s more historic residences, which are being rapidly converted, into B&B style hotels. Basically Canon is a boomtown catering to the tourism of the future…adventure tourism.
