The city of New Britain is located in Hartford County, Connecticut. Chartered in 1850, New Britain was carved from the nearby town of Berlin, Connecticut. The city is known as the Hardware Capital of the World due to its large scale manufacturing of metal and small tools products in the 19th to early 20th century.

Major manufacturers, such as The Stanley Works and Corbin Locks, were headquartered in the city during this earlier time. In this new millennium, New Britain is host to hundreds of production and high-tech manufacturing businesses with a multi-level, highly-skilled regional workforce. All this contributes to the city's strong economy.

A diverse and educated community, New Britain is home to the Central Connecticut State University. It houses the New Britain Industrial Museum, which contains displays outlining 200 years of industrial development in central Connecticut. Other attractions includes the New Britain Museum of American Art, the New Britain Youth Museum, and the Copernican Space Science Center, which has one of the largest public telescopes in the country.

New Britain offers in-town connections to major interstates and routes leading to the northern reaches of Boston and Canada, and south to New York City. This is among many of the features that continually attracts more and more people to this charming community.
