Real Estate Rockville - CT
Rockville Real Estate Information

In the Constitution State of Connecticut, there sits a community in Tolland County near the city of Hartford, that is representative of the rich and illustrious history of the state. That community is named Rockville.

The area that would become Rockville was originally developed in the early 18th century by landowner, Samuel Grant. The geography of the land was a major influence on the type of place Rockville would become. Situated near the Snipsic Lake (known as “the Snip” to residents) and the speedy waters of the Hockanum River. Because of this, Rockville would develop into a major milling community during the 19th century.

The first textile mill was built adjacent an area known as “the Rock”, a natural dam of solid stone that created a little waterfall of the Hockanum River. This landmark would be the origin of the town’s name, and today is located right in the center of the community. With its burgeoning textiles industry, Rockville became one of the premier locations in the state.

Its history can be experienced by walking through the town as you gaze upon the amazing historical Victorian structures from the days of yore, particularly at the Talcott Park neighborhood and the downtown area and Central Park. Today, Rockville’s milling activities have subsided, but the city continues to flourish with a wider economic base. Its history and heritage is something that Rockville’s 8,000 plus citizens are proud to be a part of.
