The city is located just 15 miles from Bristol and 95 miles from New York City. Torrington is one of the oldest cities in the nation being first established in 1737 and was incorporated in 1740.

Torrington celebrates its long and illustrious history - in the center of the city is the triangular Coe Memorial Park, given in memory of Lyman W.
