Boca Raton Real Estate Information It’s funny, literally translated, the term Boca Raton means Rat’s Mouth. This was the name given to the city by the Spanish who thought of the place as an inlet for thieves and pirates. But don’t worry they are all long dead, and the crime rate in the city is very low.
Much of this has a lot to do with the influx of seniors who have come there for the great weather and the beautiful beaches. It’s hard to imagine a nicer place to retire to if you are an elderly person.
Another striking feature of Boca Raton, is its Japanese Heritage. By the early 1900s Boca Raton was a tiny agricultural community, many of the farmers specializing in pineapple cultivation. Amongst these were a group of Japanese immigrants under the leadership of Joseph Sakai, who formed a community along today’s Yamato Road in 1904.
With a large tax base Boca Raton has the special privilege of investing heavily in its downtown core, thus making it a tourist destination for young people as well. As a result many fun resorts have popped up in and around the city.
So take a look at real estate in Boca Raton, there are many opportunities in both housing and business, you’ll be glad you did.
