Established in the 1830’s, Columbia County in the state of Florida is named after the famous explorer Christopher Columbus, who discovered America. Formed from part of Alachua County, Columbia County is the Fifthteenth County in Florida.

Over 56,000 people live in Columbia County, Florida and as the county is spread out over 800 square miles the population density is low. Mainly a manufacturing and retail led county, employment is focused into these main areas, however finance and the professional services are well catered for, especially in the County seat of Lake City.

An idyllic part of the state of Florida, Columbia County has much to entice visitors and enthrall residents. With a large portion of the Osceola National Forest located in the county there are a huge range of nature trials to ramble down, as well as other nature orientated pursuits. Also providing some amazing hot springs, which lie inside Ichetucknee Springs State Park, you’ll never be short of fun, or be cold either as the average temperature of the springs never goes below 70.
