Situated about 5 miles north of Tampa and 30 miles northeast of St. Petersburg is the majestic City of Temple Terrace, located in Hillsborough County, Florida. The city was named after the hybrid "Temple" oranges and the surrounding "Terraced" terrain. Temple Terrace has a population of approximately 23,000 people.

This community is predominantly a residential commuter town for the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Florida metropolitan area. However, the city is committed to fostering and promoting business growth through networking, education and leadership. The city is in midst of major redevelopment of the city's downtown. Temple Terrace Parks and Recreation Department prides itself on maintaining the highest levels of service, that includes the management of 360 acres of land throughout the city including 2 community based recreation centers, 4 athletic facilities, 5 community parks, 5 neighborhood parks, 3 tennis facilities, 5 swimming pools, and 3 nature preserves.

Temple Terrace was orignally developed as a golf course community that targeted almost exclusively the wealthy retired elite of the north. Such a plan has worked as the city has a high concentration of retired folks making this sunny environment their home.
