Although the area's early history includes pirates, hidden treasure, and Indian artifacts, you wouldn't really know it unless you visited the city's archives. However the city has done an astonishing job of preserving many of its mid-century architecture including causeways and motels that are soon to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
