Butts County, Georgia is a small, community orientated county that was formed from parts of neighboring Monroe and Henry counties. Named after Samuel Betts, a war hero in the native wars, Butts County, Georgia is the 64th county in the state. Covering only 186 square miles and with only 20,000 residents the county is quaint and intimate, a place where everyone knows everyone else and likes it that way.

Many historic sites pepper Butts County, Georgia and the county seat of Jackson, with a population of 4,000, is no exception. Beautiful Victorian architecture is all around this small town, close to the Okmulgee River. Named after President Andrew Jackson, the town is only 40 miles from the cities of Atlanta and Macon, allowing residents to easily commute to these areas for work, recreation and shopping.

A great deal of recreational opportunities lies in, or close to, Butts County, Georgia. Indian Springs State Park is a great place to visit, offering campsite, picnicking, nature trails, boating and a 105 acre lake and beach area. Close to Jackson is High falls state park, where tourists and county residents can hike, fish, swim and canoe. Oconee National Forest is also close by.
