DeKalb County is located in the northcentral portion of Georgia. This bustling county is part of the Greater Atlanta Metropolitan Area, with the eastern portion of Atlanta falling within DeKalb's boundary lines. The population of DeKalb county is appoximately 700,000 people, with major cities being Atlanta (East and North), Decatur (county seat), Dunwoody, and Tucker.

The powerhouse of Atlanta, the business and commerce cental of the South, fuels the economy of DeKalb County. DeKalb County contains nearly a fifth of the businesses located in Metro Atlanta's 20 counties with over 20,000 businesses supporting a diverse array of industries. The County has a strong education and health presence with Emory University and the Center for Disease Control which are among the biggest employers in the area.

DeKalb is arguably the greenbelt county of Metro Atlanta. Stone Mountain Park, with its natural beauty and historical sites is one of the state's most popular and interesting parks attracting visitors from all over the world. The DeKalb County Parks and Recreation Department maintains 107 park properties encompassing more than 5,000 acres to support a multitude of recreational activities.
