Situated in the gorgeous central Georgia landscape, near the Alabama state line, lies the preeminent area known as Talbot County. The County is located about 10 miles northeast from Columbus, 70 miles south from Atlanta, and 70 miles east from Montgomery, Alabama. The estimated population of Talbot County is 7,000 people, with major communities being Talbooten (county seat), Woodland, Junction City, and Geneva.

Talbot County has long been a fairly exclusive area, being home to the state's rich, famous, and influential. Many of Talbot County's residents operate in the city of Columbus, an important industrial center for the state. With a rich history, Talbot County has long been a favorite location for the state's political figures. In fact, the county was named for one of Georgia's former governors, Mathew Talbot.

There is no shortage of things to do and see in and around Talbot County. For a little slice of history, the Franklin Roosevelt-inspired Roosevelt Institute and Little White House are worthwhile visites. As are Andersonville National Historic Site and Straus-LeVert Memorial Hall.

For recreation and outdoor activities, famous Calloway Gardens is a popular attraction as one of the nation's foremost nature gardens. For some serious outdoor excursions, you'll get everything you want at Big Lazer Fishing and Wildlife Preserve and the Flint River Outdoor Center.
