Toccoa Real Estate Information ”Toccoa” is a Cherokee expression that translates to, “where the Catawbas lived”. Indeed this area in northern Georgia was one of the dwelling places of the Catawbas (“The People of the River”) Native American tribe. “Toccoa” can also be translated to mean, “beautiful”, a suitable description for this lovely area. The city’s Native American history and heritage is celebrated at the Stephens County Museum.

The population of Toccoa currently stands at approximately 10,000 people, but is expected to grow to 15,000 by the year 2015.
