More and more residents of Atlanta, particularly those with families, are increasingly searching for a new community to relocate that is quieter, peaceful, safer, more community-oriented, but still close enough to their work in Atlanta. Often their search leads to the quaint City of Winder.

The City of Winder is the county seat of Barrow County and is located about 50 miles northeast from Atlanta. Home to approximately 12,000 people, the community was named after John H. Winder, a former railroad builder.

Many people are enamored by Winder not only for its peaceful picturesque environment, but also because of the fine education that the local school district offers. This 1,850-acre park hosts the large Fort Yargo State Park Lake, which is perfect for boating, swimming, and fishing activities. There are also a wide variety of recreational facilities most notably the Will-A-Way Recreational Center, which is specially designed for physically challenged individuals.
