Boise Real Estate InformationBoise is the State Capital of Idaho, and is home to about 185,000 people making it the largest city in the State. It's widely known as the "City of Trees" but holds claim to quite a bit of cultural institutions. For one thing, about 20,000 Basque settlers make Boise the largest Basque settlement outside of Spain. Every five years they hold the Jaildi festival to the delight of visitors and townsfolk alike.
The Boise Art Museum is a fine cultural institution that hosts many travelling shows. Many theatres and festivals showcase great plays throughout the year. Combined with a low crime rate, heavy emphasis on parks, a trendy downtown area, and a good quality of life, Boise has the makings of a great city in small-town environment.
Nearby are the Boise Foothills, a local favorite for outdoor recreation. Unfortunately, there has been some hubbub about planned development in these foothill regions which has caused tension between locals and developers.
For those who like to ski, the quaint Bogus Basin Mountain Resort is only an a short drive from downtowm Boise. Residents can enjoy skiing and snowboarding without embarking on a major trek across the country!
