Real Estate Lansing - IL
Lansing Real Estate Information

Lansing, Illinois, is a small village to the south of the major hub city of Chicago. It now houses about 30,000 residents as of the 2000 census.

The village was orginally settled after Illinois joined the Union in 1818. A westard migration from New England brought many German and Dutch immigrants to the region. A number of farms, homes, and businesses made up the original Lansing settlement in 1843. The progress of Lansing was slow, with incorporation some 50 years later in 1893. Over the next 40 years, Lansing would receive a number of important infrastructure improvements like telephone, electricity, concrete roads, a municipal airport, a sewage system, and natural gas. By 1930, the population was 3,387.

Today, Lansing is a small commuter community about 30 minutes from the fringe of Chicago's Metropolitan Area. The I-80, I-94, and I-294 all run through the area, making short work of any trip. Train and bus service also bring residents to and from Chicago on a daily basis.

Despite the village's small size, annual retail sales in the area are close to $225 million. There's also plenty of quality living opportunities in a variety of homes. There are historic houses alongisde new developments, while every homeowner displays pride in ownership through gorgeous landscaping and maintenance.
