Do you know which president has stood the test of time better than almost any other? Well, it could be Washington, maybe Jefferson, but really…who can vote against good old honest Abe Lincoln? And where was the home of Mr. Lincoln? Well anyone in Springfield IL. Would be proud to tell that it was right there in their own backyard.

This is a city that loves its Abe-obilia. In fact they have just recently opened the Abe Lincoln Presidential Library complete with lots and lots of books.

Even a quick walk through the city and you’ll get a sense that in some way Abe permeates every aspect of life here in some way. All of the high schools are named after him and you can’t turn around without finding some shop somewhere selling something Abe related (often a stovepipe hat).

Even the restaurants have gotten in on the action by naming many of their best meals after him and they all have four scores of pictures of him adorning the walls. Of course, Springfield isn’t all Abe.

Many people believe that Springfield IL is actually the mythical Springfield that provides an animated home to Americas favorite animated family, The Simpson’s. Abe and Homer…who could go wrong with Springfield.
