Located in northeastern Indiana, Bluffton is the county seat of Wells County. Situated on the southern banks of the Wabash River where impressive bluffs loom, Bluffton derived its name because of the ubiquitous presence of those bluffs. Although Bluffton is set in a rural setting, it is close to many major urban centers. Fort Wayne is 22 miles to the north; Indianapolis is 90 miles southwest; Toledo, Ohio is 80 miles east; Detroit, Michigan is 130 miles northeast; and Dayton, Ohio is 110 miles southeast.

Bluffton is home to an impressive police force who provide the best in security. Amazingly, in 2003 no violent crimes were committed here as reported by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, giving testament to the fine work these officers perform. Not only are they crime-fighting superstars, they also look good doing their job by being named the “Best Dressed City Police Department” in the United States.
