Real Estate Brown County - IN
Brown County Real Estate Information

With a population of just less than 15,000 residents, Brown County in the state of Indiana is smaller in numbers than most mid sized towns in the state. A unique area in the southern-central portion of Indiana, Brown County has a rich culture and history that spreads back to the days of the early colonies. Founded on land that was purchased by the federal government, from native American’s, in the 1800’s, Brown County is named after the distinguished Major General Jacob Brown, a military hero in the war of 1812.

Divided into four townships: Jackson, Hamblen, Washington and Van Buren, Brown County, Indiana has a low population density, with communities spread out all over the county. With the county seat in Nashville only having 900 residents, Brown County, Indiana is very small.

For such a small county there is, however, much to do and there is a humble yet cheerful community spirit that is evident throughout the year as people from all walks of life come together for festivals, parades, markets and concerts. Indiana’s largest state park (Brown County state park) is located in the county and provides residents and tourists with opportunities for all sorts of adventures including hiking, fishing and picnicking.

With employment mainly in the services sector, as well as farm based, there is not much scope for employment, but what it lacks in business opportunities, Brown County, Indiana makes up in natural beauty.
