Fort Wayne Real Estate Information

Fort Wayne in the state of Indiana, was established by Captain John Hamtramck under orders from General Anthony Wayne as part of the campaign against the Indians of the area. It was named after General Wayne who had defeated the Indians at the Battle of Fallen Timbers in 1794. Today, Fort Wayne is a business center and second largest city in the state.

Fort Wayne has a number of cultural attractions reflecting its rich American history. The Allen County-Fort Wayne Historical Society's museum has General Anthony Wayne's camp bed and Johnny Appleseed's flask, and National Life Foundation maintains the world's largest private collection of Lincoln memorabilia at the Lincoln museum. In addition, Fort Wayne is home to the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo, the new and interactive Science Central, and Johnny Appleseed Park, the final resting place of John Chapman, called Johnny Appleseed because he planted apple trees all along the American frontier.
