With a population of around 35,000 residents the 28th county in Indiana is the 49th largest in the state. Founded in 1821 the Greene County, Indiana is made up of fifthteen townships: Beech Creek, Cass, Center, Fairplay, Grant, Highland, Jackson, Jefferson, Richland, Smith, Stafford, Stockton, Taylor, Washington and Wright. The largest town in the county is Linton, with a population of around 6,000; Bloomfield and Jasonville are the next largest towns in population terms, each with 2,500 residents.

A part of the Greene-Sullivan area, Green County, Indiana is a vibrant nature area that has much to offer anyone with a sense and spirit of adventure. There are over 150 public lakes in Green County, Indiana and between them there are opportunities to swim, fish, hunt, camp and picnic.
