Coralville, Iowa, is nestled away in Johnson County adjacent to Iowa City. As one of the few regional hubs with rest and recreation facilities, most of the happenings in the region are focused in the Iowa City/Coralville metropolitan area.

This town of 15,000 has no big city ambitions. Indeed, the immediate surrounding areas are lush forest and hills with ample amounts of river and lakes. Despite the mild metropolitan bustle of Iowa City (population 60,000) there isn't a single city with a population of over 200,000 within 180 miles! The closest city with over a million people is Chicago, and that's 270 miles away.

City services are great, but if you're looking for upscale urban amenities you may want to look elsewhere. Residents here are content with a small-town friendly warmth that permeates daily life here. Most people live and work in the immediate region, and commute times are low. The crime rate is also signficiantly below the national average.

If you value the outdoor life, there are many parks and recreation areas within 50 miles that are accessible by car. They're perfect for a weekend getaway. There are still some shopping and arts/culture opportunities in Iowa City so all is not lost if you like to spend a night out on the town occasionally.
