The historical city of Gardner rose out of the great westward movements by the many people looking to stake their own claim in the great Western frontier. Gardner was born of a settlement that was established at the junction of the storied Santa Fe and Oregon Trails. From its humble beginnings, Gardner has grown to become a prosperous community that is home to 10,000 proud citizens.

Named after former Governor of Massachusetts Henry J. Gardner, the city of Gardner is located in the east of the “Sunflower State” of Kansas in Johnson County. Gardner is 10 miles southwest from the city of Olathe, and 30 miles from the major metropolis of Kansas City.

Gardner is experiencing tremendous growth right now, thanks in large part to its close proximity to Olathe, the fastest growing city in Kansas. The area is ripe with many business and employment opportunities due to Johnson County’s booming economy.

The city of Gardner are big advocates of healthy living and an active lifestyle. Gardner is served by an excellent parks district that maintains an extensive parks (10 public parks) and trails network. The city is planning on creating Stone Creek Park, a main park complete with recreational facilities and a beautiful arboreal section. Other noteworthy parks are Gardner Lake Park and Gardner Municipal Airport Park. The Gardner Golf Course is available for public use, and is a popular destination on lovely days.
