Overland Real Estate Information As the second most populated city in the state of Kansas, Overland Park is one of the most influential cities in the Sunflower State. According to the 2000 census, a total of 149,080 residents lived in this city. Incorporated as a first-class city in 1960, Overland Park traces its roots back to 1905. At this time, William B. Strang Jr., considered the city's founder, platted subdivisions along a military roadway. One of these subdivisions grew to be Overland Park and the city continues to be a major business and artistic hub within Kansas.
Best known for containing the world headquarters of the Sprint Corporation, Overland Park is also the hme to headquarters of the Yellow Corporation and the employee-owned Black & Veatch Corporation. A highly progressive city, Overland Park has been praised as one of the best cities to live in all of America.
Its most famous attraction is its 300-acre arboretum and botanical garden that contains such varied ecosystems as a dry-mesic prairie, dry oak savana, and riparian woodland. A major attraction for educators, Overland Park is also home to such of the finest restaurants and clubs in all of Kansas.
