Elsmere Real Estate Information So you are thinking that you might like to move to Elsemere Kentucky? Well that is a great idea, because Elsmere is one of the finest place to live and buy real estate in the entire state. Sure the city only has 10,000 residents, but that is just part of its charm.
Located in northwestern Kenton County along Dixie Highway, Elsmere is a suburban city. The city was named in the 1890's by developer Lou Nolon, who once lived on Elsmere Street in Norwood, Ohio. Settlement in the area began around a stable on the Covington-Lexington turnpike around 1839. The city was incorporated in 1896.
Woodside Park was a popular picnic spot even before the city was established. Barbecues brought droves of people and political hopefuls to the park. Land developers in the 1880's and 1890's arranged for excursion trains from Cincinnati to bring potential homebuyers to Woodside Park.
In 1921 10,000 people in Elsmere celebrated the paving of Dixie Highway with a block party. In 1961 the construction of I-75 through Kenton County brought new businesses along with suburban growth. The community today is mostly a residential one, known for being off of the beaten path, yet close to everything in the way of shopping and services.
