Located in southern Kentucky near the northern Tennessee state line on Interstate-65 lies the beautiful community of Franklin. Named after America’s renaissance man, Benjamin Franklin, the City of Franklin serves as county seat for Franklin County. With a growing population that currently stands at approximately 9,500 people, Franklin is just 25 miles south from Bowling Green, and 50 miles north from the heart of Nashville, Tennessee.

There is plenty of things to do and see in the bustling little city, which has long been a popular overnight destination for travelers. You’ll find a surprisingly rich shopping experience in the city’s malls to some of the best antique stores in the state – its not uncommon to find a deal here. The city also houses three museums depicting the city’s heritage and history (African American Heritage Center, Octagon Hall Museum, and Shaker Museum), a popular golf course, and a drive-in theatre, and Kentucky Downs Race Course. It is also handy that gas prices are among the cheapest in the southeast.

For some amazing outdoor experience, Franklin is in close proximity to some stunning wilderness areas ideal for camping, hiking, fishing, and hunting. Barren River State Resort Park is just a few miles from the city and Mammoth Cave National Park is located just north of Bowling Green.
