Lyndon Real Estate Information The community of Lyndon is an eastern suburb of Kentucky’s largest city, Louisville. Part of the Greater Louisville Metropolitan Area, Lyndon is part of Jefferson County, and is located 10 miles east from the downtown core of Louisville.

Louisville, which is the nation’s 17th largest city, continues to grow and expand thanks in large part by its economic prosperity. Louisville is headquarters to such iconic companies like Louisville Slugger Baseball Bat, Louisville Stoneware and, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC). The area’s largest employers also includes the United Postal Service (UPS), Ford Motor Company, General Electric, and Humana.
Although it is part of the Greater Louisville Metropolitan Area, the community of Lyndon strives to maintain its own identity and preserve its rich history and heritage. Lyndon was created in 1871 as a depot that catered to the Louisville, Lexington, and Cincinnati Railroad lines. Lydon is believed to be named after Linn’s Station, a pioneer fort that was located close by. Founded in 1871 as a depot on the Louisville, Cincinnati & Lexington Railroad. The community was well known all over the nation as being home to the Kentucky Military Institute.
