Real Estate Versailles - KY
Versailles Real Estate Information

Named for the historic French city although pronounced differently, Versailles (pronounced ver-sales) also possesses a rich and illustrious history of its own. Home to the Jack Jouett, known as the "Paul Revere of the South", Jouett became an American hero for racing on horseback to nearby Monticello to warn Thomas Jefferson that British soldiers were coming to arrest him. During the Civil War, Versailles holds the distinction of being occupied by both Union and Confederate forces. The city’s history can be remembered at such attractions like Bluegrass Railroad Museum, Jack Jouett House, Labrot & Graham Distillery, and Woodford County Historical Museum.

Conveniently located near the major urban areas of the Bluegrass State of Kentucky, Versailles is part of Woodford County where it also serves as county seat. The approximately 8,000 residents of Versailles enjoy the comforts of the city’s cozy hometown atmosphere, but enjoy the big city amenities of nearby Lexington (10 miles to the west), and the state capitol Frankfurt (12 miles northwest).

Known for its fertile soil, Versailles has long been a vital agricultural trading center, and continues to be so today. This city is also home to Labrot and Graham Distillery where they bottle the famous Woodford Reserve Bourbon. An affluent community, Versailles has historically been a desired location for the state’s rich and famous.
