Eunice is the “Cajun Capital of Louisiana” and with that title, comes a lot of great things for you to enjoy! First of all, Eunice has some of the friendliest people on the planet. Why, you might ask? Well, to make a long story short, French Canadians migrated here a long time ago (giving Eunice the “Cajun” title, which comes from the word “Canadian”.) Anyway, everyone knows that Canadians are the sweetest people around, so by default, Eunice has always been a hunky-dory place! p>

The city of Eunice was named after founder C.C. Ducson’s wife the day he drove a stake in the land and proclaimed in a loud, thunderous voice, “On this spot I will build a town and name it for my wife, Eunice!!” Ducson was beaming. Never before had he swelled with so much pride as to make such a statement, considering Eunice was a pretentious hunchback with a mild case of scurvy. Nonetheless, a descent woman in the area was few and far between, so in an effort to win her waning heart, he stood tall and proud and made his declaration heard.

Today, Eunice is still full of life, spirit and that good ol’ French-Canadian gumption which is slightly annoying, but impossible not to find cute. Their music, according to the city of Eunice website, is “happy, people music” but with a message of tragedy “worse than death”.
