Kenner Real Estate Information Situated on the East Bank of the mighty Mississippi River, the city of Kenner is located in Jefferson Parish, in the state of Louisiana. It is a suburb on the western edge of the Greater New Orleans Metropolitan area, and is the location of the city's main airport, Louis Armstrong International Airport. Kenner is the sixth largest city in Louisiana with a population of over 70,000 people.
Kenner regards itself as a business-friendly city. The city has added 714 new businesses to the area, while having 4,363 businesses renew their licenses. Officials in Kenner continually pursue new businesses to keep the local economy diversified and draw in new investors.
Kenner is known as the location of the first heavyweight boxing championship fight, which was held on May 10. The city experienced great tragedy as the worst airport disaster was the Crash of Pan Am Flight 759 on July 9,1982, where 153 people died when a plane crashed into a Kenner neighborhood of the Roosevelt Subdivision.
Although the memory of that tragedy still lingers, the city has rallied around each other, and now is home to an extremely tight-knit community, where anybody and everybody is ready and willing to help each other out.
Kenner draws many people attracted to all the business opportunities available. It is also a commuter city as many of its residents work in New Orleans, but prefer to more relaxed, slower pace of life the city affords.
