The southwestern corner of Louisiana is often an overlooked location for many who visit this wonderfully vibrant state. It’s hard not to blame visitors who usually are dead-set on getting to the more heavily marketed areas of New Orleans and Baton Rouge. But if you ask any Louisianan, they will tell you that the southwest, especially the areas around the community of Moss Bluff, have their own special quality. In fact, many local Louisianans will make the trip there themselves almost keeping the area a local secret… that suits them just fine.

Not only is Moss Bluff a great place to visit, its an even greater place to live. After all, who would want to leave such a breathtaking yet serene place like this? The answer: Not to many! Moss Bluff is situated along the northern banks of the serpentine Calcasieu River and is bordered to the west by the magnificent Sam Houston Jones State Park. It is the Calcasieu River that winds its way south into glorious Lake Charles, Calcasieu Ship Channels, the legendary Contraband Bayou, Prien Lake, and Moss Lake. A rich area for wildlife, don’t be too surprised if you see many deer and alligators by the area’s watering holes.

Don’t think that Moss Bluff is part of backwoods Louisiana, in fact it is quite the opposite. Moss Bluff is a progressive and thriving community with leadership dedicated to economic development that maintains the area’s strong environmental conservation ideals.
