The City of Prairieville is located in mideastern Louisiana in Ascension Parish within the Plantation Country Region, between the capital City of Baton Rouge and Gonzales on U.S. Highway 61 near Spanish Lake and the Amite River. Considered a suburb of Baton Rouge, which is located less than 20 miles away, Prairieville has a population of approximately 75,000 people.
