Here I’ll give you one guess as to how Brewer Maine came about its name. Alright…done yet? If you said Brewer Maine got it’s name because of it’s beautiful assortment of covered bridges then you are wrong. What king of answer was that? Seriously...sheesh! Well Brewer Maine came about its name because at one point there was a large brewery there and it stood as the bulwark of the town through good times and bad. The people here depended on that Brewery for employment for many years and today the city still celebrates it as pretty much the raison d’etre of the town. But naturally, like everything, times have changed and the brewery is no longer around, but the folks here have managed to find other ways to stay employed. The city boasts many great shops and restaurants. And these have provided some employment. Especially during the tourism season when folks of people from all of the country as well as Canada and around the world come to see the true New England experience.

And you wouldn’t believe how many people come here to visit and say, wouldn’t it be nice to live here all year round. And it is also quite remarkable how many of them actually decide to make the move here to live that life of the permanent vacationer. Well that’s not entirely true. Because as anyone who has ever lived in Maine knows there is a season called winter that is nobody’s idea of a vacation.
