Frostburg Real Estate Information

You’ll love what you see in the historic and cozy City of Frostburg - a shining light in western Maryland. Home to Frostburg State University, the city of Frostburg is a mix of the residential, historical, and academic, creating a unique character that the city’s residents are proud to call their own.

As mentioned, Frostburg is located in western Maryland in Allegany County. The city is about 5 miles west of Cumberland, about 100 miles northwest of Washington DC, 120 miles west of Baltimore, and 80 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. The year-round population of Frostburg is approximately 8,500 people, but that swells to about 12,500 during the school year. This has affectionately made Frostburg a college town.

This historic city has been around since the early 1800’s, with a stunning amount of the architecture wonderfully preserved. In fact, a large chunk of the city is registered with the National Historic District. One can view the community’s past by just walking the streets although there are some outstanding historical attractions including The Old Depot, Palace Theatre, the Frost Mansion, Thrasher Carriage Museum, and the Frostburg Museum.

For a nature getaway, Frostburg is within close proximity to the Dans Mountain State Park, New Germany State Park, and Rocky Gap State Park. Other attractions in and around the city include the many musical, theatrical, and sporting events at the University, or a drive through the mountains.
