Ocean Pines is just a short drive from the paradise of Ocean City; both are in the state of Maryland, more specifically, Worcester County. The closest major city from Ocean Pines is Philadelphia, however once you’ve seen what Ocean Pines has to offer you might not really care how far from ‘Philly’ it is.

Now the first thing you may want to know about Ocean Pines is that it is a new city, one that was created by Boise Cascade in 1968 as a summer resort. As you would expect from a town founded for recreation, meticulous care has been taken to create a recreational atmosphere in this 8,500 strong community (11,000 in the summer). Along with 3,500 acres of real-estate that encompasses the Saint Martin River, the Isle of Wight bay and Manklin Creek, Ocean Pines, Maryland has some of the best golf courses inside of the state; you can ever buy golf properties if that’s what you feel like doing.

Yacht clubs, swimming pools, country clubs and numerous parks and beaches make up Ocean Pines, giving a sense of playfulness to the town. Employment is, as you would expect, based around tourism and is mostly seasonal. Whilst the town has enjoyed tremendous growth over the years, it really is still a resort town, and that’s just about all it is.
